I ordered those Burroughs recordings you suggested. I'm curious to try the cut-up technique mentioned in your last post (mentioned by Burroughs). That of taking a recording, seeking to a position and recording over it.

Part of me thinks, well, these things can be done easier in a DAW or so now. For example, sound-on-sound is as easy as just adding a track. But because the digital methods are so precise, they are missing the randomness element. You can still "see" where you are in the DAW, whereas when you rewind and stop, it's more a "feel."
